Safety and Security incidents in transit are classified according to the severity of the event. There are many types of incidents that are reportable under FTA guidelines. Some examples of incidents are:

Transit agencies and reporters for the transit system must provide detailed information on these events in order to define policy and facilitate measures to prevent these events in the future.
